Lijiang Suggested Itinerary

Day 1
A perfect way to begin the tour would be with a walk around the Square Street of the Lijiang Ancient Town, which will enamour you with small bridges, swift streams, cobbled streets and grey-tiled roofs of the local houses. While walking around the old town, you will also be able to see many local Naxi people wearing traditional costumes and headgears.
Day 2
Begin the day at the beautiful landscape at the Baishui river (white water river), which flows at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the largest snow mountain in the Northern Hemisphere. From here proceed to the Ganhaizi Dry Sea, situated at the eastern foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Standing in the meadow, you can get a panoramic view of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. From the Dry Sea, you can also take a cable car to the Spruce Plateau, which will give an aerial view of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You may also pay a visit to the Baisha Murals to see the colorful murals with 600 years of history and on your way back, see the Residence of Joseph Rock in Yuhu Village, where you will learn about the extraordinary life of this Austrian-American explorer.
Day 3
Begin your day with the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Legend has it that at the narrowest section of the gorge, a tiger can leap over by stepping on the rock in the middle of the river, so it is named the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Visit the First Bend of the Yangtze river with imposing gorge scenery, where one of the tributaries of the Yangtze river, the Jinsha river (golden sand river) runs ahead to the Hengduan Mountain Range and suddenly turns to the northeast, meeting a cliff in the Stone Drum Town, forming a large U-shape bend. You must also visit the Iron Chain Bridge in the Stone Drum Town, which got its name from a large, cylindrical, marble tablet shaped into a drum.
Day 4
Devote the entire day to shopping and exploring cuisines of the region. Also don't forget to experience local music and theatre at night.
Note: If you are a first time visitor, you must cover the entire Yunnan region, i.e Kunming-Dali-Lijiang-Shangri-La-Kunming. These all four destinations may be covered in a week's time.
