Lhasa Suggested Itinerary

Day 1
Lhasa is situated at a high altitude and it is suggested that you take proper rest during the day to acclimatise yourself and get over mountain sickness.
Day 2

Start your day with a trip to the Drepung Monastery, located in the western suburb of Lhasa City. It is one of the 'Three Great Monasteries' and the largest one in the Tibetan Buddhism. From here, proceed to the Lhasa Carpet Factory and see how local craftsmen weave an elegant and colorful Tibetan carpet.  After lunch, you can make a trip to the Tibet Museum, which exhibits a number of historical relics and treasures of Tibet. After the museum, you may go to the nearby Norbulingka Park, the most beautiful and largest man-made park in Tibet. This park used to be the Summer Palace of religious leaders of Tibet.

Day 3

You can start your day with a tour to the splendid Potala Palace. Originally built in the 7th century as an imperial palace, the Potala Palace has experienced a 600-years' queasy time until the reconstruction in the 17th century. One of the largest treasure houses, it has been attracting a great number of travellers and pilgrims daily. The Sera Monastery is the second largest monastery in Tibet, which is known for excellent debating of Buddhist doctrines among Lamas.

After lunch, step forward to the Jokhang Temple, which is located in the centre of Lhasa City. Constructed in the 7th century, the peak time of Tubo Kingdom, this temple combines the architectural style of Tibet, Han, Nepal and India. Around the temple, it is the thriving bazaar of the Barkhor Street, which assembles a large number of pilgrims, travellers and businessmen.

Day 4
Dedicate the day for shopping and exploring cuisines. Spend a night at the most famous night market in Lhasa- Tianhai Night Market on the western suburb of the city.
Suggestion: If you prefer to extend your trip to Lhasa, you may visit the following places.
1. Travel to the Ganden Monastery, the most distinctive monastery among the six biggest monasteries of Gelugpa.
2. A visit to the Namtso Lake, which is famous for its high altitude, vast area and beautiful scenery.
3. Tour the 'heavenly lake'-Yamdrok Yumtso Lake, and then visit the Ramoche Temple.
