Guilin Tourist Attractions

Lijiang River
The Lijiang River originates from the Mao’er Mountain in Xing’an County, and runs through Guilin, Yangshuo County and the city of Wuzhou, before it flows into the West River. The 83 km boat excursion down the Lijiang River from Guilin to Yangshuo is like sailing through a jade belt encircled by green mountains. Watch out for the Jingping Mountain, the Wangfu Mountain (Wangfu means ‘looking for a husband’), Banbiandu and Guanyan

Elephant Trunk Hill
At the junction of the Lijiang and Taohua rivers, the Elephant Trunk Hill was formed by pure limestone deposited at the bottom of the sea 360 million years ago. The hill creates the illusion of an elephant drinking river water with its trunk. At moonrise, the round cave between the elephant trunk and body creates the illusion of the moon descending to the river.

Yangshuo
  • West Street in Yangshuo
At the center of the county town of Yangshuo, runs a 1,400-year old street, about 1000 m long and 8 m wide. Flanked by ancient buildings, the street retains much of its original flavor. The inhabitants still lead simple lives at a pace closer to the 6th century than to the 21st.
Bars, cafes and inns imbued with the customs of the west and east add generous measures of spice.

  • Land of Peach Blossom Tao Yuanming, the poet of ancient China, described the land along the Peach Blossom River as ‘heaven on earth’. He was right. Waterways zigzag through caves and ancient trees wave their branches as you cross a bridge with nine arches, entertained by tribes and their folk songs and savory rice wine. Their hospitality never ends on the highway from Guilin to Yangshuo, in the land of ‘Peach Blossom’.

How to get there: Take the shuttle bus from Guilin to Yangshuo and disembark at the Land of Peach Blossom.
