Night Scene of the Mountain City
One of the few waterside mountain cities in the world, Chongqing, presents a fantastic sight after nightfall. Buildings along the contours of the mountain, laid out in the fashion of a maze, light up like crystals on roads that resemble colorful ribbons. The two rivers under the shadow of lights run like the Milky Way in the sky. After sunset, head for:

  • The ‘Two River Tower’ in Eling Park for an uninterrupted view of the two rivers and the city in a single photogenic frame. How to get there: Take bus numbers 138, 402 and 411.
  • Yikeshu Viewing Terrace on the South Mountain, where the altitude offers a spectacular view of the entire city. How to get there: Take bus numbers 346 and 384. Get to Nanping and transfer to a mini bus to Yikeshu. Tel: 00862362467710
  • The boat tour from Chaotianmen Wharf to the Yangtze River Bridge and then on to the Huanghuayuan Bridge on the Jialing River: While traveling along the river, reflections appear like a sea of lights.
