Mount Qingcheng: ‘The quietest mountain on Earth’
The wind passes gently through dense forests and serene valleys, whispering at trees. Mount
Qingcheng, 68 km from downtown Chengdu has 128 unforgettable spots of scenic and historic interest. Make it a point to see them all.

How to get there: Take a bus from Chadianzi Bus Station directly to Mount Qingcheng.

Dujiangyan Irrigation System
The water conservancy project ¬– the oldest in China – was launched in the reign of Emperor of Qin by prefect Li Bing, and was completed a generation later by Li Bing’s son. It remains a major historical milestone in water management and technology. The Dujiangyan Irrigation System, 48 km from the city, designated a scenic zone and a World Heritage Site, comprises the Headwork Project, the Dra¬gon Subduing Taoist Temple, the two Kings Temple and the ancient roads along the Minjiang River.

Jinsha Ruins
The museum on Qingyang Avenue in the western suburbs of Chengdu takes you back 3000 years to the Jinsha Ruins. They represent the ancient Shu culture. More than 3,000 cultural relics have been excavated from the ruins: handicrafts, lifelike stone sculptures, gold and jade seals and jadeite ornaments, pottery and porcelain, ivory, tortoise shells and antlers.

Huanglongxi: The ancient town
Walk through ancient streets, temples and houses and witness time¬ honored customs. Picturesque and quaint, Huang¬longxi has become a popular setting in films and TV shows produced for Chinese and global audiences.

How to get there: Take a bus from Jinsha or Xinnanmen Bus Terminal directly to the ancient town.

Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage Museum
Du Fu was a prolific poet of the Tang Dynasty. His cottage, by the Wanhua Stream in the western suburbs of Chengdu, has been converted into a museum. In the four years Du Fu lived in the thatched cottage, he wrote many of his masterpieces, of which 240 are recited even today. The museum is divided into the Thatched Cottage, the Plum Blossom Garden and Thatched Cottage Temple.

How to get there: Take bus numbers 17, 82, 84 and 301.

Xiling Snowcapped Mountain
The 483 sq km mountain stands over Dayi County in Chengdu. The mountain got its name from a fa-mous Du Fu poem ‘The Window has snow for centuries from Xiling’.
Baisha Ridge, at an elevation of 3,200 m, provides a rare sight. On one side of the ridge, you see only clear and boundless sky, and on the other, you see only clouds and mists

How to get there: Take a bus from the Chengdu Xinnanmen Bus Station or Jinsha Bus Station.

In the neighboring city of Guanghan, 38 km from Chengdu, stands the ancient site of Sanxingdui. Excavations in the area have uncovered 5000-year old relics of the Shu Kingdom.

How to get there: Take a bus from the North Railway Station or at the North Passenger Terminals to Guanghan, or take a taxi.

Memorial Temple of Marquis Wu Zhuge Liang
In the southern suburbs of Chengdu, a memorial in the form of a temple was built for Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang. Zhuge Liang was the Prime Minister of the State of Shu in the Han Dynasty. Built along a south-¬north central axis, the complex comprises the Front Gate, the Second Gate, the Hall of Liu Bei, the Passage Hall and the Hall of Zhuge Liang.

How to get there: Take a bus (numbers 1, 10, 14, 26, 53, 57, 213 and 214) directly to the temple. Website:
